Jean Paul Gaultier

Jean Paul Gaultier is a legendary French haute couture and prêt-à-porter fashion designer. Celebrated as fashion's "enfant terrible," he is renowned for his unconventional designs featuring iconic motifs such as corsets, marinières (sailor stripes), and tin can packaging. Gaultier debuted his first fashion collection in 1976, officially expanding into fine fragrances in 1993. He served as the creative director for the French luxury house Hermès from 2003 to 2010 before retiring from the runway following his 50th-anniversary haute couture show in January 2020.

Gaultier’s designs are widely recognized for being playful, provocative, and subversive. Throughout his career, he challenged conventional gender norms with groundbreaking creations—including Madonna's famous conical bra, his signature sailor motifs, and corsetry for men.

The house's fragrance portfolio is equally celebrated for its innovative scents and sculpted torso bottles. His debut women's fragrance, launched in 1993 (later named Classique), remains one of the world's most enduring scents. Other notable fragrances in the lineup include Le Male, La Belle, Gaultier Divine, and Scandal.
